13th EAMJA Conference 2016

The 13th East African Magistrates and Judges Association (EAMJA) Conference was held from 1st -3rd  November , 2016 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

The Hon. Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda officiated at the opening ceremony with a call to Judiciaries to employ revolutionary methods to address corruption from its roots. "A judiciary may be comprised of first class ICT systems, modern buildings and adequate stationery but if it's human resource is pathetic, lazy and corrupt, transformation will be impossible to achieve."
The Ugandan Chief Justice Bart Katureebe in his opening remarks told judicial officers that the fight against corruption begins with self examination.
The three-day Conference ran under the theme: "Transformation of Judiciaries in East Africa for Improved Service Delivery."
The Conference attracted delegates from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda,South Sudan, Lesotho, Commonwealth Secretariat, Zanzibar, and the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association (CMJA).
